"Truly wonderful work"
-Filmmaker Magazine (jumping off bridges)

"Touching, funny and sobering … jumping off bridges should launch Candler into the big time."
-Filmthreat Magazine

"Candler demonstrated a deep understanding of teen anxiety, angst and alienation. An emotional, smart movie."
-Moving Pictures Magazine (jumping off bridges)

"Powerful fiction ... Candler handles her difficult material with skill and conviction."
-Scott Macaulay, Producer, Gummo, Raising Victor Vargas (jumping off bridges)

"A moving work that addresses the hard-to-swallow subject of suicide with grace and sensitivity."
-Indiewire, Mike Tully (jumping off bridges)

"Candler is very much in touch with a particular sort of teenaged sensibility. She knows the difference between sadness and the petulance it is often mistaken for, and she treats her sullen girls and boys with the sort of patience and understanding their parents (and, perhaps, some audience members) can never quite muster."
-Ain't It Cool News (jumping off bridges)

"Candler's wry snapshot of quiet determination flows with such natural humanity that it feels like a documentary. Once again she displays an unerring instinct for the way people really act in real moments, and the payoff is at once funny, empathetic, and oddly touching."
-Chris Garcia, The Austin American-Statesman (Roberta Wells)

“Candler excels at capturing the human essence of her characters in all their complexity"
-Merle Bertrand, Film Threat (Roberta Wells)

"Candler's minimalism is eloquent, capturing truths about family dynamics and the looming specter of illness and death"
-Robert Butler, The Kansas City Star (Roberta Wells)

"This is possibly the best teen misfit romance drama I've seen since the mid-eighties."
-Ain't It Cool News (cicadas)

"When James calls Anna "original," he brilliantly sums up both the exceptional Broockman and this remarkably sweet video feature from Kat Candler."
-Film Threat (cicadas)

"cicadas is one of the most stunning films about teenagers I have ever seen. It announces that Kat Candler is a major talent.”
-Norman Marks Former film critic for NBC Chicago (cicadas)

"Lyrical and gentle ... a wonderful film. Kat Candler is a name you will hear much in the future."
-Lodger filethirteen.com (cicadas)

About Candler Productions

Candler Productions is a film production company dedicated to the adventure of good stories. Whether the stories make you laugh or cry, they capture the joys and pains of the human experience and the beauty of the human spirit. Whether it’s a junior high girl struggling with being a genius, an elderly woman jonesing for a cigarette, or a dystopian society where imagination is something sold on the black market, they take you to a different time, a different place and they introduce you to stories and characters that capture your heart.

“I love making movies more than I know what to do with. For me, it’s about the countless hands and hearts that go onto a screen. It’s about the collaboration, the love and the imagination that goes into telling a story.

Inspired by the films my dad took me to see as a kid, the films I snuck into on my lunch break working at the local movie theaters or the indie films I discovered in my early 20s, I love everything. Art house films, teen slasher flicks, period dramas, Sundance hits, summer blockbusters, big explosions, Cyborgs, screwball comedies, action packed kid adventures, silent Harold Lloyd shorts … I just love movies.”
